Meadows to George Street

Our vision is to transform cycling, walking, public spaces and accessibility for all on some of Edinburgh’s busiest and most iconic streets.

The project will provide key walking and cycling improvements from Teviot Place along Forrest Road, George IV Bridge and Hanover Street to George Street. As an important part of the Edinburgh City Centre Transformation Strategy, it will be one of the first projects to deliver major street improvements. It is being closely developed alongside the George Street and First New Town project and City Centre West to East Link.

Project details

Our plans include new segregated cycleways, wider pavements, and pedestrian priority areas. We propose to close some streets to some types of traffic. We also want to plant new trees and create new public seating areas. Take a look at our proposals to see the details.
